- Vinyl Numbers
- High Performance vinyl is a, "cast" vinyl and proven 8-year standard for durability and workability. Cast vinyls are rated for outdoor use and are more resistant to fading because cast vinyl contains better pigment than an intermediate vinyl. Therefore, cast vinyls are dimensionally stable and resistant to shrinkage and fading. High performance vinyls can be applied to compound curves, rivets and corrugations.
- High Performance vinyl is a, "cast" vinyl and proven 8-year standard for durability and workability. This vinyl is produced by pouring liquid vinyl onto a very smooth casting sheet. It is then moved through a heat curing system. With this process, cast vinyls are dimensionally stable and resistant to shrinkage and fading. Cast vinyls are rated for outdoor use and are more resistant to fading because cast vinyl contains better pigment than an intermediate vinyl.
Intermediate vinyl or, "calendered" vinyl is less durable, less glossy, and less dimensionally stable than cast vinyl. This vinyl is produced by a molten mass of vinyl pulled through rollers until stretched to a thickness of 2, 3, or 4 mils. Therefore, Intermediate vinyls will shrink over time which causes glue to be left around the edges and dirt to accumulate. Intermediate vinyls can only be applied to flat surfaces and simple curves.
- All of the products we sell are produced with a cast, High Performance vinyl. For easier installation, we produce the front door vinyl hours in Intermediate vinyl.

- Because the aluminum is not a factor, (it lasts 20 years) the High Performance vinyl we use has a manufacturer's guarantee of 8 years. However, we feel in normal U.V. exposure, this product could last 10+ years.
- We used to use plastic products, but found aluminum and vinyl to be a far superior product in even the most severe U.V. environments. However, we use a type of plastic for some Building Identification that requires a special treatment and is not cost effective for door numbers.
- There are a couple of different ways to install the door number plaques. The most common is with two spots of double back tape on the back of the door number. For an exterior application, RT Adhesive Silicone is used between the two tapes to secure the door number.
Another way is for us to punch the door number with 1/8" holes, (generally centered left and right). The price will increase slightly. Pop rivets or drill screws can be used for this installation.
- Split block and stucco requires pins to be glued onto the back of the door number and holes drilled into the building. This can be time consuming and expensive. Our suggestion is to find a flat surface such as the header or use a vertical plaque and install onto the door jam/frame. Some roll up doors have a large flat surface at the lock hasp, also. If there is no flat surface, you may consider a pre-spaced vinyl number applied directly to the roll up door.
- Our standard lead time is no longer than 10 working days.
However, we can quick ship within two business days, (a commitment of air shipping is required). Quick ship is subject to production work -load and does not apply to custom colors, sizes and added logos.
- Yes, we will punch a ¼" license plate hole on the top two corners of this number plaque. However, we suggest a larger number plaque for this application because the customer will be reading from over 40' away. We suggest at least a 3" - 4" number for this application.
